The 3rdgen Application Server (3rdgenAS) is a series of modules that enable the construction of advanced E-service and E-commerce applications. 

Think of 3rdgenCMS as the bricks and mortar to build your site - 3rdgenAS modules are the plumbing, air conditioning and other facilities that will enable you to have a sophisticated web presence (beyond 4 walls and a roof).

Existing 3rdgenAS modules provide for:

• Security (user registration, password management, profiling), with a flexible hierarchical and roles based system.
• Forms, enabling creation and maintenance of web forms by users without technical knowledge.  3rdgen forms store data in XML format, and are fully integrated with the security system.  Data can be reused by other forms, applications and interacted with.
• Forms automation, to generate triggers and actions based on forms parameters (e.g. reminder, notifications, etc).
• Email/Marketing, enabling communication to audiences (registered users) or to any email list.  The Email and Marketing module also enables the creation of content from the email - this greatly reduces the need to re-enter content on the website, or resend emails to registered users.

SECURITY

3rdgen's registration system enables the protection of content or interactivity based on a login and password.

This system provides application-level security, defined by a multi-level hierarchy of roles. (This means that administrators, customers and staff can access only the  features they are authorised to use.)

The details collected at registration (profile) can be defined for each site, and a complete administration system supports the registration data - including renewal and expiration, credit card payment, etc.

FORMS

The forms system is integrated with the content management system to provide highly configurable, user-defined forms. After submission, the form data is available for downloading into other applications or for further interactions, such as editing and deleting.

The forms and registration modules have previously been deployed on a number of projects by 3rdgen, and have considerably reduced the programming effort required for these projects.

Forms Automation

3rdgen's AS Automatic Forms add workflow capabilities to your own user defined forms.

Automatic Forms provide:

• Automatic generation of new forms needing to be completed by registered members according to a user defined schedule.
• Tailoring form appearance to suit requirements without needing to redesign the form.
• Email notifications as a form makes it's way through the process.
• User defined reminder notifications when form has not been completed (or a combination of status / date is noted).

E-Mail/Marketing

3rdgenAS Email/Marketing makes it easy to send email to your registered users, or any list of email addresses.

3rdgenAS Email/Marketing provides:

• Creation of templates to provide standard layout to emails.
• Automatic insertion of user details into the text of the email message to provide personalised correspondence.
• Flexible methods to select email recipients, including filtering on user-defined fields, security settings, roles, etc.
• Tracking when emails have been read by the recipient.
• HTML and Plain text format emails.
• Storage of the EMAIL email? as content on the website - registered users can retrieve previous emails from the web
